FAQs

Questions contractors actually ask

Prices, timescales, revisions, domain ownership, VAT and cancellation, answered plainly. If something isn’t here, just ask.

Price and scope

How much does a website cost?

There are three packages. Essential is £349 to set up, then £39 a month. Professional is £499 then £49 a month. Growth is £799 then £89 a month. If none of them fits, ask and I'll price the job. Everything each package includes is on the Websites & Pricing page.

Can I receive a custom quote?

Yes. The three packages are a starting point. If you need more pages, a particular kind of form, or several locations, tell me and I'll price it. Your written quote is what counts, and it overrides anything written on this site.

How many revisions are included?

One round with Essential, two with Professional, three with Growth. A round means one written list of changes. It is worth collecting all your comments before you send them, so you get the most from each round.

How are payments normally split?

Half the setup fee before I start, the other half once you have approved the site and before it goes live. The monthly fee starts on the date we agree and is paid in advance. Unless your quote says otherwise. The Client Service Terms set this out in full.

Is VAT added to these prices?

No. Lavery Leads is not VAT-registered, so there is no VAT to add. The setup fee and monthly price you see are the amounts you pay.

Is there a minimum term, and how do I cancel?

The Care Plan runs month to month. There is no minimum term unless your written quote says so. You can cancel any time using the cancellation form. Your site keeps running until the end of the month you have already paid for. The Cancellation & Refunds Policy has the detail.

Building the website

What information do I need to provide?

Your business details and contact information. What you do and where you work. Photos of real jobs and any reviews you already have. Your logo if you have one. If you already own a website address, I'll need access to it.

How long does a website take?

Usually three to five working days. That clock starts once you have sent everything I need and paid the first instalment. A more complicated site takes longer, and waiting on photos is the usual hold-up. Your quote confirms the timing.

Can you write the website content?

Yes. I put the first draft together from the facts you give me, up to the word limit in your package. You need to read it and confirm it's accurate. That includes any prices and qualifications, because you are responsible for what your site says about your business.

Who owns my domain?

You do, completely. Your website address is registered in your name, and you are the legal owner from day one. I buy it, set it up and renew it while your Care Plan is running, but I'm only acting as your manager.

One standard .co.uk address is included with an active Care Plan. If you already own one, it stays registered to you. I can point it at the new site without moving it. If you use that address for email, those settings are left alone. It's only ever moved with your written say-so, and your order form records who renews it.

If you cancel, you keep the address. I keep managing it until the end of your paid period and give you reasonable help moving control to you or another provider. The Client Service Terms set this out in full.

Website Care Plan

What does the monthly Website Care Plan include?

It keeps your site online, secure and backed up. I check now and then that the site and the enquiry form are working. It also covers the small changes included in your package each month.

What counts as a minor update?

Changing wording that's already there, swapping a photo, adding a review, or adding a recent job to your gallery.

Does unused update time roll over?

No. Unused time ends with the billing month. Routine maintenance doesn't come out of your allowance, and neither does fixing my own mistakes.

What happens if I need more than my allowance?

I price it and you approve it before I start. I never do chargeable work without your say-so.

What happens if I cancel the Website Care Plan?

Your site keeps running to the end of the period you've paid for. After that the hosting may stop, so arrange new hosting or a move in good time. If the system can produce a usable copy of the site, you get one. If it can't, your quote says so before you buy. Start a cancellation any time with the cancellation form. Your quote and the Cancellation & Refunds Policy govern this.

If I cancel, what do I keep?

Your domain, your own content and your photos. The domain is registered in your name from day one, so it stays yours whatever happens, and I give you reasonable help moving control of it to you or to whoever you choose. Everything you sent me stays yours as well: your words, your images, your reviews and your business details. Once the work is paid for, the bespoke text and graphics your order form lists as yours are yours too.

What stops is the hosting. The Care Plan is what keeps the site online, so when it ends the site goes offline unless you've arranged hosting somewhere else. Give yourself time to sort that out.

What doesn't come with you is the reusable part underneath: the layouts and design system, the code libraries and components, and the general methods and templates I use on every build. Those stay mine. You get a permanent licence to keep using them as part of your finished site, so you can carry on using the site exactly as it is; you just can't lift them out and sell them on as a template. Fonts, stock images and plug-ins keep their own separate licences.

The full wording is in the Client Service Terms.

Results and advertising

Can you guarantee Google rankings or enquiries?

No. Where you rank depends on your prices, your reputation and who else is competing. How many enquiries you get also depends on how fast you answer the phone. Nobody can promise those on your behalf. What I control is a fast, clear site that works on a phone and makes contacting you easy.

Is Meta advertising spend included?

No. You pay Meta directly for the ads through your own account. My fee is for setting them up and running them.

Who owns the Meta account and data?

You should. Your Facebook Page, Instagram account, ad account and payment method should all be in your name. I get access as a partner, so you never need to share a password.

Do you create the advertising photos and videos?

You supply the photos and videos. I choose the best ones, crop and trim them, and write the wording that goes with them. Photography, filming and animation aren't included unless your quote says so.

Working together

Do you only work with businesses in Northern Ireland?

Northern Ireland is the main focus, and the sites are built around how local trades win work. I do take work elsewhere in the UK. Get in touch and I'll let you know honestly whether it's a good fit.

Still not sure?

Ask the question directly in the quote form. There is a free-text box for exactly this, or you can ring and ask. An honest “that’s not a good fit” is a perfectly normal answer.

Ready to look like the contractor you actually are?

Tell Joe what you need. You get a clear written quote. No obligation, no pressure, and no sales sequence afterwards.
